The Aquarium
The Aquarium of Genoa is one of the biggest aquariums in Europe, located in the old harbour of Genoa. Opened in 1992, it houses more than 500 types of marine animals from all over the world. Among the various types are sharks, dolphins, seals, penguins, jellyfish and sea turtles. The aquarium is also involved in shark research and conservation.
Historical Centre
XX Settembre is one of the most important and popular streets in Genoa, connecting Genoa's Brignole railway station to Piazza De Ferrari. It is also characterised by elegant historical buildings, fashion shops, restaurants and historical cafés.
Piazza De Ferrari is a famous square in Genoa, with the De Ferrari Fountain in the centre. The square is surrounded by important monuments like the Palazzo Ducale and the Banca d'Italia Tower.

La Superba
The historical centre of Genoa, also known as ‘La Superba’, is an ancient and charming city district that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is most characterised by its ‘caruggi’, winding streets, which host a wide variety of shops, restaurants, churches and monuments. It also includes Europe's largest maritime history centre with the Old Port, the Galata del Mare Museum and the Bigo.

The Palazzi dei Rolli are a group of historical buildings in the historical centre of Genoa, included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. These aristocratic ‘Palazzi dei Rolli’ were used to host noble families visiting the city during the 16th century. Today, many of them are open to the public and house museums and cultural institutions.
The Porto Antico of Genoa is a port and tourist complex that was completely renovated in the 1990s. Designed by architect Renzo Piano, it now hosts the Aquarium of Genoa, the Bigo (a large panoramic crane) and the National Antarctic Museum. A shopping centre, cinemas, restaurants and nightclubs are also present.

Boccadasse
Boccadasse is a charming seaside district located in the eastern part of Genoa. It is famous for its colourful houses and flower-decked balconies. Boccadasse beach is one of the few sandy beaches in the Genoa area and is popular with beach lovers. The village is also renowned for its fish restaurants.
